As someone who spends the vast majority of my time trying to graft a living through punting and gambling relating work I try to never miss an opportunity for an easy dollar.
With the competition now very strong for punter's dollars it has become customary for TAB's, Corporates and other betting agencies to offer incentives not only to attract customers but also keep them - and this is where the smart punter can get a healthy kick to the bank balance.
It is important to keep an eye out for these offers and make them work for you in building your bank.
Before I list a few examples and idea's some important points to consider with your betting
1) Only open an account with an online company that has a proven reputation. There are plenty of scammers and dodgy ones out there. If they are registered in Australia or the UK then they are more likely to be safe. If you get an offer which seems too good to be true then check it out thoroughly. Also read terms and conditions associated with any offer or bonus - most will have some turnover requirements before you can withdraw the winnings.
2) Do not keep large balances with any one company. No business is immune to going bankrupt, so I recommend keeping balances to a safe working level - continual withdrawing and depositing may be a pain but can also have advantages as you will see later (credit card section). Bettingwest which had become a well established company in WA was one that recently went broke and left a lot of people burnt. There have also been several start-up exchanges in the UK that ultimately went bust aswell.
Now onto the good stuff
INITIAL DEPOSIT
Here is a list of betting companies I have accounts with and also there intial current deposit bonus's - there are probably a lot more out there.
IAS (http://www.iasbet.com/) $100 free bet on a deposit of $50 or more
Sportsbet (https://www.sportsbet.com.au/) max $200 1st bet - returned as free bet if loses
Sportingbet Australia (http://racing.sportingbet.com.au/) $100 free bet on a deposit of $30
LUXBET (https://www.luxbet.com/) $100 free bet on a deposit of $25
Centrebet (http://centrebet.com/) max $200 1st bet - returned as free bet if loses
So looking at those you get a nice little bonus for just opening an account - an excellent starting point.
REFER A FRIEND / AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
Nearly every betting site on the net has a refer a friend program. This simply means if you can get someone else to join up they give you a free bet and often also your friend (usually $50). Affiliate Programs are those banners you often see on website's - if people click through from them and make a deposit you will profit. We ran some of these on my old site Perth Turf Talk with mixed results but over the years the profit was handy.
TIPPING COMPS
A lot of sites run tipping comps that are free to enter and have substantial cash prizes. Sportsbet probably have the most famous of these with $1 million in cash prizes on AFL and NRL. Betezy and the associated affiliate sites also offer up to $10,000 every day for picking the card at a selected race meeting - lower amounts for finding the first 4,5,6 or 7 winners. Sportingbet Australia run a popular Last Man Standing competition in Racing, AFL and NRL.
BONUS OFFERS
Again most sites offer these and they come in all sorts of forms - even TAB's offer them.
- Free Bets
- Extra Odds - such as 20%, 50% or even 100% on different bet types
- Money Back - sometimes offers include Money Back if your bet runs 2nd to the favorite or is beaten a short margin.
And as example I received one of these emailed to me today from Betfair which reads -
It's been five marvelous years since Betfair first launched operations on Australian soil and to celebrate, we're rewarding our loyal members with five $50 risk free bets* over the next 5 days from May 5-9, on the following events:
THU MAY 5 Warrnambool Racing Carnival – full card
FRI MAY 6 Wentworth Park Greyhounds – full card
SAT MAY 7 Gold Coast Races – full card
Super Rugby – all matches, all markets
SUN MAY 8 Betfair Derby Day Morphettville – full card
AFL – all matches, all markets
MON MAY 9 NRL Sea Eagles v Raiders – all markets
So thats $250 worth of bets (with any amount of potential profit depending how I play) with no risk to me.
CREDIT CARD DEPOSITS
Credit Cards are the most acceptable, easy and effective way to make a deposit online however they should be used with caution. Any balances should be paid as quickly as possible and always within the terms so you do not attract interest.
However here is a way you can make them work for you - be sure to check that the betting company does not charge a fee, very little do but a few like Betfair will charge 1.5% - if thats the case look at BPAY or another option.
Also check with your credit card company to see if they treat the charge as a cash deposit which will accrue interest straight away or as a normal credit card charge - most should be the later which is what you want.
Now if your credit card has an awards plan for spending (again make sure you have one that does) by regularly making deposits into your respective betting accounts you will quickly chalk up points.
Make a point of having a specific time each month, fortnight or week - whatever suits to withdraw funds or deposit but try and keep the turnover clicking to rack up those points.
You will be surprised how quickly they will add up - use them to buy gifts, holidays or whatever but the main thing is you are getting something out of it in the end.
So in summary what I am trying to point out is they are boundless ways to get ahead from the TAB'S, Corporates and Exchanges - use them to your advantage and play them wisely and you will find you can do alright. The fact is there are so many mugs out there losing money that the Bookies will hardly notice if you are taking a few dollars off them with these deals - start winning big amounts however and that is a different story and something I might talk about at another time.
However until next time GOOD PUNTING
